Health is Wealth

Without health, what do you have? All the money in the world can’t buy you one of the richest things you’ll ever own, a healthy body. Sure you can do things cosmetically and work hard for a great physique but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re in good health. If you don’t eat well, sleep enough, exercise regularly and go to the doctor for checkups, you could be putting your health at risk in the long run for all types of ailments and chronic diseases. Everything will catch up to you eventually if you don’t put a handle on it.

I felt a strong need to write this article as I’ve been watching friends and family of my clients suffer through all types of diseases. Some may have been preventable if they were caught in time. Unfortunately in most cases, the individuals kept putting their health on the backburner until it was too late. The stories do not have a happy ending and they affected everyone who cared for them. I had to watch a very good family friend wither away from cancer years ago because he never bothered to check his colon.

Never take your health for granted as you never know what may happen. Of course nothing is a hundred percent in life but you can take certain measures to decrease your health risks.

High stress levels can lead to obesity, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, depression and anxiety. Not only does this affect your physical well being but also your mental state of mind. What I see often as a trainer and a holistic health coach is that people kill themselves to excel in their career. In many cases, their jobs literally stripped them of their sanity and health. In one recent case, the job literally killed the person. In another, I’ve watched a marriage fall apart because one person compromised everything because of his career.

Everyone gets lost every now and then, forgetting to take care of their mental and physical well being. It’s normal as we’re all human. Don’t fall off the deep end to the point that it’ll be too late to come back. It’s important to find a healthy balance in life. Exercise regularly. Make healthy choices with nutrition. Meditate whenever possible. Make some time for healthy friendships and relationships. Visit your doctors for regular checkups. Do what makes you happy. When you’re healthy in mind and body, you will feel much more satisfied and content in the long run. Don’t neglect what you can control. Make the most of your time you have in this lifetime.
